State TAG Team

Committee Charges

The Technologist Advocacy Group (TAG Team), which falls under the jurisdiction of the SNMMI-TS Advocacy Committee, requires one dedicated member per state who is ready to be involved at the local level.

TAG Team representatives should be prepared to share information on any changes in state/jurisdiction laws concerning the practice of nuclear medicine, Joint Commission survey outcomes, Medicare (CMS) surveys, and all other news or policy changes that might affect SNMMI’s technologists.

TAG Team representatives must be able to routinely provide updated information on a variety of issues, including:

  • What type(s) of licensure is required in your state (i.e. CNMT & ARRT(N), only CNMT, etc.)?
  • What modalities (NM, CT, MR, X-ray) are licensed in your state/jurisdiction?
  • What is the licensure term in your state/jurisdiction?
  • What is your state's/jurisdiction's Continuing Education requirement?
  • Does your state/jurisdiction have a scope of practice for NMT?
  • What types of exams are required in your state/jurisdiction (i.e. state exam in addition to registry)?
  • Who is the head of your state/jurisdiction Radiation Control Program?
  • Who is your state's/jurisdiction's CRCPD (Conference of Radiation Control Program Directors) Representative and what is their contact information?
  • Who holds a leadership position in your state/jurisdiction government's Assembly/House and Senate or equivalent?
  • Is your state an Agreement State?

TAG Team representatives must be prepared to answer questions submitted by SNMMI-TS members from their state/jurisdiction.

  • The TAG Contact Information website allows members to contact their TAG representative and keep the committee informed of issues throughout the country.

TAG Team representatives must access the LegiScan program to look for proposed legislation that may affect the Nuclear Medicine practice in their state/jurisdiction.

TAG Team representatives will work with proposed legislation in their state/jurisdiction using the Model Practice Act for Nuclear Medicine and the Nuclear Medicine Technologist Scope of Practice and Performance Standards.
