Clinical Trials Network

The Clinical Trials Network (CTN), established by SNMMI, is dedicated to advancing the effective use of molecular imaging and use of radiopharmaceuticals in clinical trials.  CTN sponsors educational sessions and  hosts workshops for technologists, physicians, and scientists on all components of imaging research. An array of tools has been developed to support high-quality PET and SPECT imaging through standardization.

Imaging and Research Tools

Phantoms

CTN5-PET

An anthropomorphic phantom with 12 spheres ranging in size  from 7 mm to 37 mm that serves as a clinical simulator and allows for qualitative and quantitative evaluation of the images and lesion detectability.

CTN5-SPECT

An anthropomorphic phantom with 11 spheres ranging in size from 13 mm to 60 mm that serves as a clinical simulator and allows for qualitative and quantitative evaluation of the images and lesion detectability.

Graves Phantom

A 20 cm diameter, tissue equivalent cylinder with a hole bored to receive a 250 mL plastic container into which a known volume and activity is added, allowing for the conversion of counts per second per pixel into standard Bq/mL concentration measure and quantitative calibration factor calculation for SPECT/CT scanners.

Phantom Analysis Tool (PAT)

PAT enables rapid, robust, and reproducible quantitative measurements of scanner performance. It supports analysis of the four most commonly used phantoms for PET/CT to facilitate their convenient use in robust scanner QC/QA programs for hospitals, outpatient clinics, and mobile scanners.
