Mickey Williams Technologist Minority Scholarship

Overview

These scholarships support minorities pursuing a two- or four-year degree in nuclear medicine. This scholarship honors the memory of Mickey Williams, a past SNMMI-TS president who immigrated to the United States from Jamaica.

Two winners will be selected; these awards are made possible by the Professional Development and Education Fund (PDEF).

Requirements:

  • A completed application, which includes the applicant's personal and financial information and the nuclear medicine technology program information.
  • Official or unofficial transcripts of all formal education (high school transcripts are not necessary if transcripts of college level work are submitted) issued directly from the institution’s registrar’s office; you may also upload an unofficial copy.
  • An applicant statement, not to exceed one page, can be attached to this application. The brief statement should describe your educational aspirations and financial need for scholarship assistance.
  • A completed evaluation from the program director, whose information will be requested in the 'Program Director Evaluation' section of this application.
  • Be of African American, Native American, Hispanic American, Asian American or Pacific Islander decent [eligible Native American include American Indian, Eskimo, Hawaiian and Samoan].
  • Hold current U.S. residency status of U.S. citizen, U.S. national, or U.S. permanent resident. Individuals with a visitor, student, or G-series visa are not eligible.
  • Be currently enrolled in or accepted into an entry-level nuclear medicine technology program at the time of application. Award is open to students in associate and baccalaureate level programs only. Individuals with previous certificates or degrees in nuclear medicine sciences are ineligible.
  • Have maintained a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or better on a 4.0 scale, with evidence of high academic performance.
  • Demonstrate financial need.
  • Be an active member of the SNMMI-TS (membership is free to students!)
