2026 SNMMI Pediatric Imaging Council (PIC) Imaging Case Competition

The SNMMI Pediatric Imaging Council will be hosting its 5th annual Imaging Case Competition at this year’s SNMMI Annual Meeting, which takes place May 30 - June 2, 2026, in Los Angeles, CA. The top 3 cases will be showcased at the annual meeting, will be eligible for a cash prize, and will have the opportunity to be published in Clinical Nuclear Medicine.  

Top cases:

  • Showcased at the 2026 SNMMI Annual Meeting
  • Free registration for the SNMMI Annual Meeting (Top case first author only)
  • Cash Prize: $100 per case (Top 3 cases)
  • Invitation to submit for publication in Clinical Nuclear Medicine
  • Membership to the SNMMI Pediatric Imaging Council (for SNMMI members)

Case Submission Guidelines:

Submission Criteria:

  • Must be a SNMMI member. If you are not a member, please visit the SNMMI Membership page. In-training membership is free for residents, fellows, medical students, technologist students, post-doctoral fellows, postdoctoral students, and high school students.
  • Case competition submissions should include nuclear medicine studies in the pediatric population but can also include additional relevant diagnostic/interventional images.
  • Types of cases to consider submitting range from classic 'Aunt Minnie' cases, unusual/uncommon cases, interesting artifacts or medication-effects, etc.
  • There is no limit to the number of cases you can submit.

Power Point Guide/Outline:

  • Slide 1: Name, Institution, Position (Medical Student, Resident, Fellow, Faculty), Department.
  • Slide 2: Patient History – Patient age, medical history, presenting symptoms etc.
  • Slides 3-7: Images. Please include 2-5 images for your case. This must involve relevant nuclear medicine study images, and can include any relevant diagnostic or interventional images as needed.
    • Patient identifiers MUST NOT be included on your images or in your case information. Including personal health information identifiers will result in immediate disqualification.
    • Images should be added to your PowerPoint in either JPEG or TIFF format. Cine video clips could be included as needed.
    • Please include an appropriate caption for each image, including:
      • The type of study, radiotracer used.
      • Label and describe the relevant findings.
  • Slide 8: Teaching points—Please include 2-5 teaching points for your case.
  • Slide 9: References as needed for your teaching points.
