Committee on Women in Nuclear Medicine

Committee Charges

  • The WINM committee is charged with promoting women physicians, physicists, scientists, and technologists in nuclear medicine and molecular imaging; fostering the development of professional interests; addressing problems encountered in the practice of nuclear medicine; raising awareness of scientific contributions of women in nuclear medicine; recognizing the challenges of balancing career and family; promoting fair and equitable treatment, and improving the climate for women in nuclear medicine in all stages of their careers.
  • The WINM committee will have three working groups – Program, Networking and Mentorship, and Technologist. Additional areas of focus will include increasing involvement of international and early career members, promoting educational and career advancement, and leadership development.

Chairperson's Message

 

Welcome to Women in Nuclear Medicine!

We've made it through challenging times with the COVID-19 pandemic, which has impacted professional women in many ways. Nevertheless, the Women in Nuclear Medicine committee of SNMMI the has continued to work behind the scenes to promote women in nuclear medicine and take part in the issues that matter to us.

The Women in Nuclear Medicine committee was founded in 2014 to promote the advancement of women physicians, scientists, and technologists in nuclear medicine.  We continue to support women in our professions by holding special programming at the Annual and Mid-Winter Meeting, including the annual breakfast and CE sessions, by contributing to policies statements about issues impacting women, and more.

Now in my second year as chair of this wonderful group, I believe it is truly is a privilege to help serve as a voice for the women in our specialty. The WINM Committee volunteers are appointed on an annual basis during the SNMMI Committee Appointment process. The process begins in February/March each year with a call for volunteers and concludes in June when appointment letters are distributed to members. If you missed the Call for Volunteers this year, but still want to join the Committee, please e-mail Nikki Wenzel-Lamb at [email protected] to be considered.
