SNMMI Governance Overview

The SNMMI is a volunteer, not-for-profit entity organized under section 501(c) 3 of the IRS code. It is incorporated in the state of Washington and maintains its headquarters, with a paid professional staff of 45, in Reston, Virginia. 

The Society governance structure, in common with most professional medical societies, includes a policy-making Board of Directors, a representative component - the House of Delegates, committees, and councils. In addition, two centers of excellence (CoE), the PET CoE and the Center for Molecular Imaging Innovation and Translation (CMIIT), offer members a chance to deepen their professional affiliations within SNMMI. Tthe Society has chartered fourteen chapters that are separately incorporated, stand-alone organizations, with professional affiliations.

Board of Directors

The SNMMI Board of Directors is the governing body of the Society. The Board is comprised of 21 members, including a President, President-Elect, Vice President-Elect, and Immediate Past President who, along with the President, President-Elect and Immediate Past President of the Tech Section, and the SNMMI Treasurer/Secretary, also serve as the Board's Executive Committee.

House of Delegates

The House of Delegates is the representative component of the Society, composed of a Speaker of the House and 79 physician, scientist and Technologist members with voting rights, each elected from and through various Society constituencies.

Committees

In addition to traditional board committees such as Finance, Membership, Scientific Program, and Awards, the Society also hosts a number of substantive committees addressing specific issues associated with nuclear medicine and molecular imaging, scientific research and the practice of nuclear medicine and molecular imaging.
