SNMMI Launches Direct Fundraising Initiative to Advance Nuclear Medicine and Theranostics

Nuclear medicine has entered a critical period of growth and development. Breakthroughs in the field are transforming patient care and reshaping what is possible in diagnosis and treatment. Sustaining this momentum requires bold action and new approaches.

Today, SNMMI is strengthening its fundraising strategy to directly support mission-critical programs, pioneering research initiatives and the future growth of the field.

The Education and Research Foundation (ERF) supported fundraising for the Society for many years.  SNMMI and ERF partnered to fund groundbreaking research and support the field. Several years ago, ERF broadened its strategy to support other societies in addition to SNMMI.

At a time when research funding is more competitive than ever, direct support for SNMMI is vital. The future of nuclear medicine depends on sustained investment in innovative research, workforce development, advocacy, education, and awareness. Building on the success of programs such as the Bench-to-Bedside Campaign and the Mars Shot Research Fund, SNMMI is now bringing individual fundraising in-house to ensure that every contribution directly advances these priorities. 

A newly established Fundraising Board and a dedicated fundraising director will guide a comprehensive fundraising strategy designed to support these priorities through several key initiatives:

SNMMI Fund—Supporting mission-critical programs and strategic initiatives, including grants, awards and scholarships, and workforce development efforts that strengthen the future of the profession.

SNMMI Mars Shot Research Fund—Fueling innovative research in nuclear medicine, molecular imaging and theranostics.

Estate Planning and Diversified Assets—Enabling donors to create lasting impact that supports their specific values and priorities and provides significant tax benefits.

Theranostics Strategic Initiatives—Providing critical investment in one of the fastest-growing and most transformative areas of the field.

This unified approach ensures strategic, impactful and transparent support for the future of the field, giving donors a clear view of how their contributions advance research, strengthen the profession and expand patient access to life-changing innovation.
