Telix Provides $50,000 in Scholarships to Support Future Nuclear Medicine Technologists

Reston, VA (October 11, 2024) – The Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging is thrilled to announce its partnership with Telix Pharmaceuticals to offer $50,000 in scholarships for students entering nuclear medicine technology programs. This initiative highlights SNMMI’s commitment to advancing education and enhancing the future of nuclear medicine.

Through the SNMMI-TS/Telix Entry-Level Nuclear Medicine Technology Scholarship, five students will receive $10,000 each to support their pursuit of a career in nuclear medicine. The scholarship aims to address the growing need for skilled nuclear medicine technologists, particularly in underserved areas where educational opportunities in this field are limited.

“We are grateful for Telix’s generosity and forward-thinking approach in supporting the next generation of nuclear medicine technologists,” said SNMMI Technologist Section President Julie Dawn Bolin, MS, CNMT, FSNMMI-TS. “These scholarships play a crucial role in cultivating a highly skilled, diverse workforce—one that is essential to meeting the growing demands of the rapidly evolving fields of nuclear medicine imaging and theranostics.”

"With the rapid growth of radiopharmaceuticals in imaging and theranostics, it's evident that certified nuclear medicine technologists play a key role in delivering optimal patient care and will be essential for the future of oncologic nuclear medicine," said Esteban Regalado, director of physician education and engagement for Telix.

Several states lack the educational infrastructure necessary to train nuclear medicine technologists, creating gaps in patient care. Through this scholarship, SNMMI-TS aims to increase diversity within the profession, enhance cultural understanding and improve patient outcomes by expanding access to nuclear medicine services.

This scholarship is open to individuals who have applied to a certificate, associate, bachelor's, or master's level nuclear medicine technologist program within the last six months and are either accepted or awaiting acceptance.

The scholarship will go live in 2025. For more information about SNMMI grants, awards and scholarships, visit www.snmmi.org.
