Currently, there are only 68 programmatically accredited nuclear medicine technology programs, with several states not having a program at all. This lack of educational infrastructure ultimately leads to communities having inadequate support from qualified technologists, which in turn leads to inadequate access to care for patients. Direct support for these areas will not only increase diversity and cultural understanding but also improve patients’ access to care, their perceptions of the care they receive, and their health outcomes.
